Why not? God's word tells us that we can bring God glory doing absolutely anything, including eating and drinking. Corinthians 10:31, NKJV. “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.’ Let's explore for a bit.
Some say that our diet should strictly be fruits and vegetables and some say it's totally fine to eat to meat.
We find both in the bible. In Genesis 1:29 God says '..."Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. (A)You shall have them for food.'"
But then in Genesis 9:2-4, after the flood, God gives another instruction saying All wild animals and birds and fish will be afraid of you, God told him; 'for I have placed them in your power, and they are yours to use for food, in addition to grain and vegetables. But never eat animals unless their life-blood has been drained off."
So all things are okay to be eaten by God's account. So give thanks and eat.
What about what we drink? What does God say about the 'truth syrum', the 'devil's drink', alcohol?
All things in moderation. It's okay to have some alcohol but it is never okay to be drunk Proverbs 20:1 says "Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler; and whoever is led astray by it is not wise." and Ephesians 5:18 explicitly states "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless indiscretion. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.".
What about other 'recreational pleasures' people would like to enjoy from as small as junk food to the occasional puff of a cigar/cigarette, even dealing with drugs (edible or otherwise)
Bottom line is "Your body is a temple for God, Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthinans 6:19-20, " Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."
It's easy to feel pressured in this day-and-age regarding your diet with each new one that comes around, and also if you're really just health conscious by default or as a requirement. Either way, we pray that you seek the Lord in terms of what pleases Him and also what are the best ways to be a good steward over your own body.
