When chronic illness hits, it can feel like our world has been turned upside down. The recovery process can be a rollercoaster ride with its own set of challenges and setbacks. Oftentimes we are told to do the needful but aren't fully prepared, so it takes courage to face the unknown and seek help but its vital to listen to our bodies and not ignore the symptoms which can be incredibly overwhelming and daunting if left alone.
I totally get it. Its scary when everything seems fine one moment, and then Doctors are trying to figure out what's going on. It can be frustrating not having clear answers right away.
In this article, I want to share my story in order to inspire others facing similar struggles, reminding you that you too can find strength and resilience in the face of adversity. Take each day as it comes, and know that, through all things, God is truly there with you and you can call on Him, especially in the darkest and loneliest moments; God's grace, love and inexplicable peace guide you through in ways you never expected.
THE PROCESS LEADING TO DISCOVERY
When I was brought in for urgent review on September 18th, 2023, and they checked my heart and lungs it was a sigh of relief to now they were fine, but I was having shortness of breath which was puzzling both doctors and I.
The whole process with doctors appointments and medication took on toll on my mental health. I decided to take a week off work to rest and gather my thoughts, which affected my normal schedule and appetite. I felt drained and isolated from reality, it was a blur of constant pain, exhaustion, brain fog, 'painsomnia', and sleep insomnia.
The whole ordeal drained my faith and strength, but I knew that even in the midst of darkness God was with me. It was a very emotional whirlwind with the TV show feature on Dayelight, Thanksgiving service of my Pastor's wife, and the doctors visit all happening in such a short span of time. It was unexpected and shocking to learn about the potential risks of my health but I clung to hope and my belief in God.
THE MINDSET & COMMITMENT THROUGH THE JOURNEY
Despite the slight delays and complications I did my best to remain strong and resilient and armored myself with the Word of God which guided me through one of the darkest times in my life.
My recovery journey was nothing short of tragic yet miraculous. The love and support from my family and friends played a crucial role in my healing process. Day by day, I made remarkable strides, regained my strength and stability. With God by my side my faith may have wavered but it never died, He brought me hope, peace, and optimism that had aided me to overcome countless obstacles.
If you are going through the same thing, or something similar, I encourage you to remind yourself of the progress you've made and that warrior spirit within you.
Make God your first resort and not last seeking Him in prayer and devotion. Trust in His plan for you, and know that He is always with you. Remember tough times don't last forever, and God has already given you the power to overcome them.
Keep holding onto hope, and never stop believing and keep your faith alive. You got this!
