Zechariah 4:10 NLT Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin and to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”
We live in a fast-paced world, and we can easily become frustrated when we have to take small steps to get to where we are destined to go. It can feel like we are not progressing at all when we have to take one small step at a time. We all want the next step to come faster. We want things to go smoothly! Don’t we? Guess what? It’s not always like that. There are times when we have to take small steps in order to reach the big step.
In order for you to get a harvest, all it takes is a small seed. For a seed to grow, you must first plant it in the ground and bury it with dirt so it can begin germination. A seed takes time to grow. It can be buried in the ground for weeks without any noticeable change.
The fact that we don’t see the seed doesn’t mean it is not there. Sometimes we pray and declare a thing and then lose patience because it doesn’t manifest right away.
A seed is very small compared to the harvest that it can bring forth if you keep watering it.
My question to you is: what small seed has God planted in your heart that you are despising?
Don’t despise the little things that you have right now. So whatever you are building in your career, your ministry, or your business, don’t despise the days of your humble and seemingly insignificant beginnings. It may seem insignificant right now, but as you press into Jesus and trust Him, watch how he multiplies what’s in your hands. Small people with big dreams can accomplish great things.
Small steps matter; they are what will lead you to your destiny if you don’t break the momentum. I don’t know what God has called you to accomplish; it might seem beyond your reach. Your might or strength won’t be the means by which it is accomplished. It will be in God’s strength. Start taking it one step at a time. When you are faithful to the little things, God can trust you with the big things. We all need to start somewhere. What I have learned and come to realise is that it’s in the small that we recognise the hands of God at work in our lives. You possess the necessary abilities. Begin with what you have. Start small; you will finish big with the help of God.
You are probably in your season of small things right now. Don’t give up on your small beginnings. God is faithful and is able to bring what He has started to completion. My encouragement to you is to continue making those small steps, just like the seed you will bring forth fruit in due season if you continue watering that seed and do not faint. Zechariah 4:10 reminds us that God Himself sees, cherishes, and blesses these small beginnings, which should inspire us to enjoy our days of small beginnings.
Remember, little is much when God is in it. Go ahead and celebrate your smallness. Start now, whatever it is that you want to be and do. You possess the necessary abilities. Begin with what you have. Take that small step of faith. The day of big things is coming; until then, remain grateful, faithful, and content.
Be encouraged.
God bless you.
