Life rarely goes as planned, and we often find ourselves tossed to and fro by circumstances that are completely out of our control. When things go awry, our confidence in God’s faithfulness may waiver, our vision may get lost, our souls may grow tired and we may find ourselves in a ‘just trying to make it’ mode. However, if we view our struggles and challenges through the lens of faith we will find the strength and empowerment we need to not only survive but flourish and thrive.
A lens is an object that allows us to see clearly. It is used to correct the defects in our vision. Spiritually, our ‘lens’ is faith. This enables us to see our earthly experiences and struggles as fleeting- for a moment, for a little time. So the Apostle Paul reminds us to not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18 (CSB).
Our physical eyes will show us a world filled with challenges and transient joys, but it’s through the ‘lens of faith’ that we behold God's unchanging and eternal truths. Faith allows us to see beyond our immediate circumstances, our immediate challenges, our immediate circumstances and instead see a wellspring of hope built on the divine promises of God. Faith reminds us that every trial we face is an opportunity to strengthen our trust in the Lord, and every joy is a glimpse of the eternal bliss that awaits us. It reminds us that if we approach life's experiences with a deep trust and belief in our Sovereign God, great joys will come our way.
One striking aspect of the lens of faith is the emphasis on resilience and the belief in the potential for positive change. We can see adversity as a catalyst for growth and transformation which shapes our perspectives while guiding and influencing our actions. This perspective encourages us to face challenges with a resilient spirit, drawing on our faith as a source of strength to overcome obstacles and emerge stronger on the other side.
The lens of faith is the pathfinding tool in the hands of the believer providing strength to walk through the fiery darts of the enemy and render the activities of demons powerless and useless.
The lens of faith is the only light that will take us through the darkest and loneliest tunnels of our lives. Psalm 23: 3 "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.
The lens of faith helps us to see and walk, through the darkness surrounding us, the sinking sand threatening to engulf us and the slimy pit trying to pull us in.
The lens of faith will walk us through murky waters, gaping and dangerous potholes, roaring waves, bad weather, and severe turbulence.
The lens of faith reminds us:
that regardless of what we see, God is good and we’re going to be all right.
that there will be times of difficulties, distress, and frustrations yet we can be strong and hopeful.
of the deep realities and difficulties of life yet keeps us steadfast and secure.
that life on earth is never rosy all the time because we are children of God yet we are strong and formidable.
that through every trial God will see us through, make an escape route for us, and bless us beyond what we can expect or imagine.
As we journey through this year may we learn to successfully navigate the fearsome raging of life's turbulence and hurricanes while winning life’s battles on the grounds of faith. May we Unleash our faith, become Unstoppable and SOAR in 2024.
