"To every loss there is a lesson..." - Faith Corrica, ahead of Album Release, encourages others to keep pressing in the midst of difficult seasons

Faith Corrica - an exceptionally talented woman of God and Guyana native, took some time to share with us about her journey, recently, and we're absolutely excited to share her story with you, PAJE Fam! Let's jump in.

PAJE: You’ve been in music for some time, we see, but we’d love if you could share about your musical journey with the PAJE Fam

Faith: It all started when I was 3 years old and my mom discovered I had inherited my voice from my grandfather Malcolm Corrica snr. AKA Lord Canary.

And so she wrote me a gospel calypso to sing in church and by the next Sunday I was belting “Praying is good, praying is sweet” It was 20 years ago but I remember being super terrified of standing in front of all those people so I stood there with my eyes closed and head bowed down, my next stage was the annual Children’s Mashramani Calypso Competition in 2010 I won both regional and national championships, that went on for about 5 more years, until I decided to step into the Junior Soca Monarch in 2019-20 I placed in Second and Third positions.

In 2020 I released my first ever gospel single “Abide” that song came out of a place where I felt like my little dabble in the world was pulling me away from my true calling, I call it my “Heart of Worship” song. Ever since then i’ve been doing gospel music in 2021-22 I entered the Senior Calypso Monarch and I won, but gospel music has always been my love and it will forever be.

PAJE: If you could use 5 words to describe who you are, what would they be?

Faith:

  1. Proficient

  2. Persistent

  3. Unique

  4. Caring

  5. Sacred

PAJE: How would you describe your journey with God and how has it impacted your musical journey?

Faith: My journey with God has been nothing close to easy, I’ve probably been attacked in almost every single way the devil could think of thus far I know I'm in my early 20's but being a Pastor’s daughter definitely contributes to the hardship my mom often says it makes it ten times worse than the average Christian child.

But it definitely has great times and that's what I live for. I think that my spiritual walk has been the main influence on my musical journey.

Everything that I write comes from the heart, I believe in sharing my experiences with others who might be going through the same thing just to be a reminder that if Faith can get through it so can you.

PAJE: How would you describe your musical style?

Faith: My music is not genre based, I’m a worshipper at heart and the coming year will showcase that.

I believe that anything that glorifies God or can offer encouragement I can fit into.

PAJE: Who is it that you desire to communicate most with through your music?

Faith: It’s my desire to win young souls for the kingdom of God and to also draw those who are already in the kingdom closer to God. I have a passion for young people just seeing that in praise and worship lights up my heart, that kind of makes me sound a little old but in the time that we’re living in I believe that there is a great call for young people to take up the mantle and lead the way!

PAJE: What would you say to persons who are scared to pursue their purpose because of how big the vision from God is?

Faith: The bigger the vision, the greater your potential. Being scared is human but it has definitely helped me a lot to constantly remind myself that God didn’t give to me a spirit of fear. So every time you think of perusing your purpose and you feel any bit of fear, it’s definitely the enemy who is trying to stop you, and letting fear win means the devil wins and we don’t want the devil to win.

When you start its not gonna be a bed of roses and instant elevation, to everything there is a journey but God is there with you and if you could only hold on and look to him through it all, I promise it’s the best decision you would ever make.

PAJE: What are 3 things about you that people wouldn’t readily know?

Faith:

  1. This might come as a surprise but my heart is as soft as a teddy bear.

  2. I’m also a dancer, attending the National School of Dance here in Guyana.

  3. And people have no idea that I study.

PAJE: We noticed that you're the Co-Owner of Aspyre Music Group; how did that come into play and what has that journey been like?

Faith: Myself and production manager Joshua Nedd had realized the potential of talent in unrepresented individuals in the country and decided to venture out into creating a network that will have the resources to create music and offer managerial services and support them in places they might not have the knowledge in.

The journey on this has been interesting, it has had its ups and downs, you meet so many personalities and have so many experiences with people, I’m very proud of this work and will continue to nurture this initiative for as long as I can.

PAJE: What would you say your core mantra is as you push forward with business and ministry?

Faith: To every loss there is a lesson, I had to learn the that we win some and we lose some and it’s really the losses that have kept me going. Sometimes we might lose a friend that we thought would’ve been there forever but then we find ourselves climbing up higher and we realise that we just had to shed a little. My ministry has been built on learning, every time I make a mistake, I always want to do better the next time and I believe that there is always room for improvement and so Faith is bent on improving her life in its entirety.

PAJE: What’s next for Faith Corrica?

Faith: Music and more music, it’s my heart’s desire to do worship music and so that’s what I’ll be doing. We’ll be releasing my first album later this year, with my premiere song for the album being released on August 30, 2024 and I just hope that my music continues to bless the hearts of the listeners and that God will continue to get the glory!
